Porter (In Development!)
Cost: 5 Exp
Required Props: Crate, Backpack, Ledger, Closed Chest (Lockable)
A porter is a trusted transporter of goods and materials, well connected to logistical contacts.
Every event will have one or more marked gathering points. In absence of one established to the GM, it will be the nearest out of sight location at the outside edge of the playable area closest to entry.
Deliver Goods
Any event taking place at a village, settlement, or outpost will have the need to transfer mundane goods in and out of the area. While in good standing with the locals, you may ply your trade delivering these goods to the marked gathering point by placing your locked chest in an appointed area. These drop off points double as collection points for other businesses, and after two hours you may collect your chest to return incoming goods to the village, producing a small profit each time. (Received post event through your ledger.) You must log the time the goods were delivered, and what time the chest was recovered again in your ledger to gain any benefit. No more than one delivery of goods may be made at any time, and settlements will not have need of this service more than once every other hour. Each time “Deliver Goods” is completed, you gain an additional use of “Logistics” (see below.) When practicing within an allied settlement, or a settlement you belong to, you may practice this trade action without additional coordination with the locals.
Export / Import Goods
Other trade skills may interact with this ability, allowing you to export the goods produced by other characters. These props must be placed in a trunk, chest, crate, or backpack and delivered, and will remain inaccessible for the remainder of the day, after which they may be collected again for a profit. Items exported this way are placed at a marked gathering point and collected again at game-off for a profit. It is incumbent on the porter to negotiate a price for this service.
Packing Camp
A great number of items need securing before dark. Speak with a local official (the GM) near sunset regarding the safe transfer and storage of these goods. A seasoned porter is trusted with the care of such items by reputation, and may monetize that reputation to receive a considerable increase in profits.
Logistics
A porter may arrange material assistance once supply lines have been properly established. For each instance they have previously delivered goods at a given event, they may dispatch armor to be repaired by nearby contacts. This process costs the profits which would have been generated by a previous “Deliver Goods” action, and requires the armor to be delivered to the collection point where it must be left for one hour, after which time it may be collected and returned fully repaired. Up to six points of armor may be repaired this way per denar spent and per “delivered goods” action performed, but multiple instances of logistics may be performed at once assuming the porter is able to physically transport the goods.
