Salvatorian Empire
The mighty Salvatorian Empire dwarfs the kingdoms of Antora, but maintains only a city, and a few colonies in the region. Salvatoria tends to stay out of local affairs, seamingly content to harvest natural resources for its own faraway interests.
Although it seems content with its current holdings, Salvatoria suffers no defiance or disrespect against it. Even the mightiest of Astalorian kings know better then to challenge the Empire’s legions, and afford it’s emissaries the highest honors and respect. When Astalore and Entador united to resist it's colonization, the response was swift, brutal, and absolutely overwhelming. Within a year, the legions of Salvatoria were able to sweep across Antora, looting and razing every city they came across before returning to their original holdings.
Salvatoria considers itself the rightful successor to the Zycharian Empire - a claim they use to legitimize themselves as the one true nation of man. Salvatoria is led by an Emperor, though most policy is decided by the Salvatorian Senate. The Emperor of Salvatoria is not a hereditary title, and is instead decided by a council of philosophers tasked with this purpose. Any citizen of the Empire may ascend to the throne if deemed worthy by this council. Salvatoria is currently led by Emperor Titanius I.
All Salvatorian citizens, from laborers to the emperor are servants of the state, and each is expected to spend their life in service to the Empire. In return, all Salvatorian citizens receive a strictly enforced rights which reflect the pride of Salvatoria. The Empire cultivates strong values of duty, sacrifice and patriotism.
Salvatoria is an old nation, dating back to the fall of the Zycharia. It’s capital city - Gyrodus (or Gyrodeus), is a marvel of civil engineering. Built on a heavily fortified river, Gyrodus is designed to be completely self sustaining, complete with rooftop gardens and agricultural parks. The city is defended by a series of consecutive walls, each dwarfing the previous. These defenses are a point of pride, built by entire generations determined to surpass their predecessors. The city's defenses were put to the ultimate test during the Kharun invasion, during which Gyrodus withstood a siege for a generation.
Salvatorian colonies on the Antora are based out of Hadria, and are administered by Legion Legate Cicero Alexius. Cicero has made very clear his legion has no love of the Antorans, and expresses an intent to extract as many resources from the region at the least cost to the Empire. Salvatorian soldiers wear purple - and the implied connotations are very intentional.
