The Iron League
The Iron League is an organization of forts, metalworks, and mines based out of the Bulwarks which share a distinct identity, code, culture, and some relative independence. Though slavery is banned throughout Antora, the Iron League’s use of penal labor mimics the practice in all but name, to which the lords of Antora so often turn a blind eye in exchange for the arms flowing from the mountains.
From their metal works, the Iron League dispatch “Ransom Brokers” to collect criminals from Astalore and Entador. They are often brazen in fulfilling their quotas, sometimes dragging away innocent and guilty alike when they feel their actions will not be too closely scrutinized.
The Iron League observes a ruthless code of might makes right. While property rights are strictly enforced, murder is considered an acceptable method of settling internal disputes. So long as the profits keep coming, the league will overlook nearly any cruelty or injustice, so long as the feudal lords are not blatantly antagonized - though this carefully cultivated relationship has begun to break down with an increasing disregard for established norms and unspoken agreements.
It is said the reclusive leaders of the Iron League pay their respects to some kind of metal primordial, a great badger of unworked iron which lives deep within the mountains and whose coat alone might shred a man if displeased.
